Chalky Finish media
Vintage is trendy. Vintage is popular. With the right media, you can easily achieve the velvety soft chalk look in your home.
Achieving perfect results with the vintage look
The numerous Chalky Finish media will enable you to do this. By means of the Chalky Finish cream wax, porous surfaces painted with Chalky Finish get a strong protective layer for everyday indoor use. The cream wax is available in a dark brown colour or colourless, and it can be coloured later with all Chalky Finish paints. The wax can be applied either with a paintbrush or a lint-free cloth. After drying, the item being worked upon can be polished for even more shine. For effective use of the item, it is best to let the cream wax dry for about 7 days.
For an optimal end touch, apply the Chalky Finish clear varnish, which is available in either ultra matt, satin matt or soft-touch version. At the same time, the surface of your objects is enhanced with Chalky Finish shine ultra matt, silky matt or even extremely matt and velvety, as desired.
The transfer medium offers endless scope for transferring paper printouts from laser printers onto different surfaces such as wood, MDF, canvas frames, papier-mâché, glass or fabric. But first of all, the surface must be dry, light and clean. Only then the medium can be applied with a paintbrush to the chosen surface and to the paper printout. The printout needs then to be immediately placed on the surface with the motif facing downwards and then smoothed out. The excess medium can be wiped off with a cloth. Then let it dry for about 8 hours before moistening the imprint and carefully rubbing away the paper layer with a soft, wet sponge. This step must be repeated until the entire paper layer has been removed from the surface leaving only the desired motif on it.
For a crackled effect on surface, the Chalky Finish crackle medium is the best solution, which is suitable for indoors and outdoors if sealed with a protective varnish afterwards. It must be applied onto the dry undercoat paint and then painted over with an other contrasting colour after it has dried out. This paint layer then cracks and the lower paint layer becomes visible again through the achieved cracks.
Chalky Finish blocker is a perfect transparent, drying sealer and stain remover. Thus, used or resinous wood surfaces can be optimally prepared to be given a new look with Chalky Finish. Natural wood surfaces are that way sealed and the new coat of paint gets a protective layer. The blocker must dry for about 5 - 7 days before it is painted over with Chalky Finish.
